Gbchealth accomplishes its mission by supporting companies through the following approaches: convening and connecting businesses, governments, multilaterals and civil society for the purpose of knowledge and idea sharing on global health; driving the creation of high-impact partnerships, collective actions and coalitions; providing recognition and visibility to companies for the global health work they support; championing best practices in business engagements on health; representing businesses in key global health settings; and providing advisory services and guidance to individual companies, as needed.gbchealth works with many of the fortune 500 companies in key global industry segments and also enjoys strong relationships with governments and several multilateral institutions, including the world bank, united nations agencies, and the global fund to fight aids, tuberculosis and malaria. In addition, Gbchealth serves as the secretariat for the corporate alliance on malaria in africa ("cama").in a typical year, Gbchealth will lead or participate in some or all of the following activities: development of health-related corporate programs and policies; identifying and brokering public-private partnerships between businesses, governments and communities; fostering private sector collaboration with the un and its global development priorities; hosting corporate dialogue and strategy sessions; researching and publicizing case studies and best practices; sharing status of public health issues in the global business community and stimulating dialogue through expert-driven event panels, teleconferences, and publications; providing global forums for thought leaders in business to interact and generate ideas and solutions.gbchealth is an exempt organization for federal income tax purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is not classified as a private foundation. Gbchealth is supported by contributions and grants tied to specific projects coordinated by gbchealth.gbchealth provides programs as described below:focal point services and coordination- as focal point to private sector steering committee roles, Gbchealth provides advocacy, content and coordination support for private sector input into key global health institutions. In fulfilling each of these roles, Gbchealth brings a wide range of skills in the areas of strategy, policy, relationship management and coordination. In summary: Gbchealth has served as focal point to the global fund board's private sector constituency ("psc") from 2006-2022, managing and facilitating engagements with and between psc member companies and the fund. Starting in 2022, Gbchealth prioritized engagement directly with the global fund on issues related to private sector partnerships; in june 2022 Gbchealth transitioned the psc focal point role to another organization.gbchealth serves as cama secretariat, spearheading and coordinating cama initiatives, mobilizing private sector strategy and action on malaria in the most endemic regions by streamlining efforts across industry sectors and countries. Cama is a coalition of companies from various industries partnering to meet the goal of malaria elimination in africa through knowledge-sharing and in-country collective action. Demographic dividend: improving health for women and youth- since 2017, Gbchealth has partnered with united nations population fund ("unfpa") to encourage multi-sector partnerships in africa focusing on health, empowerment, education and employment to reduce vulnerability and supprot young people to reach their full potential. Specifically, the collaboration aims to support the sahel women's empowerment and demographic dividend ("swedd") project, a regional initiative supported by the world bank, unfpa, and the west africa health organization.african business coalition for health- in 2019, with support from aliko dangote foundation ("adf") Gbchealth launched the african business coalition for health ("abchealth"). The coalition will unlock synergies to help companies and their leadership contribute more directly to meeting national and regional health goals in the context of sustainable development goals ("sdg") agenda 2030 and africa agenda 2063 untimately improving the standard of living, quality of life and the overall health and well-being of all africans. Gbchealth has been supporting and partners with abchealth on events, initiatives and publications.web-based and print communications vhicles- in 2022 Gbchealth prioritized multimedia formats to engage with and extend its network of partners. Gbchealth's website, email communications, social media activity and printed materials continued as vital resources for companies with new and more engaging video and audio content. The information disseminated by Gbchealth via these avenues provides companies with the tools and knowledge needed to take an active role in making a difference in global health. It supports companies in their efforts to understand and implement best practices. Throughout the year, Gbchealth released reference materials, including newsletters, case studies of company programs, implementation guides, and papers on a diverse range of subjects, from roundtable reports to policy issues.issue-driven summits, workshops and teleconferences- Gbchealth facilitates knowledge sharing and joint planning through regional and global events, working groups, round-tables & teleconferences. Based on need or current trends and challenges in global health, Gbchealth staff organizes agendas, content and facilitation of knowledge sharing activities and events with a focus on action and impact. These forums may include diverse constituents, including other ngos, government and multilateral partners, in addition to the business community, who support discussion and concept development by lending their perspectives. In 2022 Gbchealth continued its focus on addressing malaria and other infections diseases but also increased emphasis on health equity, health systems strengthening & the integration of ai & technology to address future health threats & pandemics. Building on the enormous impact and reach of the private sector's response to covid-19, Gbchealth led discussions with businesses on private financing for health and started to define the role of companies in tackling emerging global health issues such as antimicrobial resistance, food & water security & the impact of climate change on health.global health innovation awards- Gbchealth awards have been among the most coveted honors in the corporate social responsibility (csr) arena. The corporate awards exemplify a spirit of innovation and help set the agenda for addressing today's most important global health challenges. Award applications undergo a rigorous evaluation process by a panel of internationally-respected judges- a rotating group of experts drawn from across the private, non-profit, multilateral and governmental sectors, as well as Gbchealth's extensive corporate and ngo network. In 2022 Gbchealth launched the future united initiative and future united awards that recognize and celebrate creative solutions being implemented by inspiring individuals and organizations who are transforming the outcomes for populations locally, nationally and globally.
