Program areas at Bethel Institute for Community Development
The math and science scholars- tought by a certified teacher. This program combines hands-on experiments, games, excercises, technology, and field trips to help youth connect math and science principles to thier everyday environment in a fun-filled way participants are also introduced to careers in science, technology, engineering and math (stem) fields.
In your corner- a collaborative initiative, focused on helping men of color, ages 17-24 to build new lifestyles after release from incoarceration, featuring mentoring, life skills Development, relationship-building, academic/ career planning, healthcare, and fatherhood supports.
Wellness and mediation- facilitated by a certified mediator. This program improves the lives of young people and the Community through teaching interpersonal and self-care skills to high school students. The two-month mediation training includes active listening, confidentiality, open-ended questioning, negotiation, and conflict resolution workshops. The students also learn how to take care of their mental and emotional wellness, relaxation techniques, art and music therapy modules, understnding trauma, self-regulations, and mediation sessions.
Planning ahead- a ministry that teaches, assists and empower people to make informed decisions about thier end of life wishes.
