Program areas at Genesis Health Services Foundation
Genesis Health Services Foundation (Genesis Foundation) meets the healthcare needs of the local community by soliciting, managing and granting charitable funds for Genesis Health System programs and services. The Foundation assists aspiring and current nurses through scholarships and certifications, leading to the recruitment and retention of highly qualified nursing professionals. This investment results in better patient care. In addition to nursing education, the Foundation's signature programs include free flu vaccinations for elementary school children, breast imaging (e.g. mammograms) for patients who cannot afford these life-saving services, and nurse visits to the homes of newborns to ensure they have a healthy start in life. The Foundation also provides charity care to patients that otherwise might forgo care for lack of means, and funds an employee emergency assistance fund for those employees experiencing a personal or family crisis. The Foundation's investment in technology brings these advancements to patients and the community at an accelerated pace. If not for the Foundation, the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House would not exist nor continue to provide end-of-life care, especially for the less fortunate. The Genesis Foundation improves the health and wellbeing of the communities served by Genesis Health System in countless ways.
