Georgia Forestwatch empowers members to advocate for forest protection through public education and a variety of tools, including issue hikes, spring wildflower hikes, and old growth tours. Our unique District Leader Forest Monitoring program utilizes knowledgeable volunteers to protect the 867,510 acres of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in Georgia. Our mission is centered on national forest protection.

Program areas at Georgia Forestwatch

Forest monitoring of timber and recreation management activities in the chattahoochee-oconee national forest. Staff forest ecologist leads all forest monitoring efforts along with well-trailed volunteers.
Help preserve wild and scenic areas in the chattahoochee-oconee national forest for future generations by getting the highest levels of protection in wildreness, roadless areas, and wilderness study areas.
Educate and empower citizen action on behalf of the forest by engaging people through outings, presentations, newsletters and social media. Outings include wildflower hikes, issue hikes, old growth hikes, canoe trips and freshwater snorkeling opportunities.
