Program areas at Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation
In 2023, the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Vision Services included 1027 tele-optometry patients, 382 traditional mobile patients, 93 Grady patients, 593 patients received glasses through Frame Kits program and 2,645 patients were seen in the Chamblee Clinic for a total of 4,740. The following services were provided: 1,738 Exams only adults; 159 Exams only Children, 1,343 Adults and 150 Children received exams and glasses; 3,002 adults and 133 children received glasses only (already had a prescription). We also provided 12,190 screenings for children in the school systems to determine if they needed further vision services. Our traditional mobile and tele-optometry clinics worked with 40 partnerships to bring sight services to Georgians across the state.
In 2023, the Lighthouses Vision Surgery Program coordinated eye surgical services for 149 patients who received 329 surgical procedures at no cost to the patient. Surgical facilitation includes care for the following eye diseases: macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and keratoconus, cataract surgeries and glaucoma treatments. We partner with over two hundred ophthalmologists, surgical facilities and anesthesiologists to ensure quality care for Georgians who lack insurance coverage and have incomes at 200% of poverty or below. The value of in-kind services was $709,484.60 in FY 2023.
