Program areas at Georgia Retailers
Represent association members before the Georgia general assembly, state regulatory agencies, and local governments throughout Georgia. The Georgia Retailers, Inc. Advocates on measures that advance and preserve the favorable business environment for Georgia's retail industry, while simultaneously defending the industry from legislative and regulatory actions that would negatively impact the ability of the retail sector to thrive in Georgia. In addition, the association monitors local government meeting agendas for ordinances that may have an adverse impact on Retailers throughout various major municipalities in Georgia. The association has 52 members as of year end in 2023.
Provide networking opportunities for members at association events throughout the year, such as the annual groc loss prevention conference as well as two board meetings. Industry leaders as well as executive, legislative, and regulatory leaders are often sought as guests at such events to allow association members the chance to interact and build relationships with those in business and government.
Conduct an organized retail crime and loss prevention conference. Georgia Retailers organized crime conference (groc) is a full-day educational event with multiple sessions including guest speakers on current topics in the retail loss prevention space. The conference also features a trade show where loss prevention vendors showcase products and services to help Retailers prevent crime within their business. This event is open to member and non-member Retailers and is attended by retail loss prevention professionals as well as law enforcement personnel who work retail theft and organized retail crime cases, allowing them to network and better communicate with each other to reduce crime in local communities through Georgia. This event provides continuing education credits for loss prevention participants.
