Program areas at GIRLS ON the RUN North Bay
Impacted social, emotional, and physical health for over 1,100 participants (overall less than last year) while increasing our support for our under-resourced families. 74% of families received financial assistance (20% increase) and 69% came from diverse racial or ethnic groups (17% increase). Resilience and confidence were built while providing a unique experience for our diverse communities to come together. Participants were led by volunteer mentors who facilitated the international research proven, life skill curriculum, afterschool. Confidence and caring were further anchored with the participants completing a noncompetitive 5K and a community impact project at the end of the program. A total of 88 small groups met at schools and parks. Girls on the Run North Bay with our volunteer coaches is committed to be a stand-byer, celebrate uniqueness and help our community be more inclusive, diverse, just, and equitable. Girls on the Run helps girls recognize their potential and rise above gender expectations that may limit their health, confidence, and joy. We respect and value the individuality and dignity of all people and welcome children who identify as girls, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming to participate in our program.
