Program areas at Girls on the Run of the DFW Metroplex
During the year ended 6/30/2022, we served 658 Girls. Using 186 volunteers meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-15 from 3rd to 5th grade and separate groups from 6th to 8th grade, Girls learned life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. Meetings occurred with predesigned curriculum, which is designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, make new friends, build confidence, and develop life skills that will help them as they move through adolescence and beyond. the season culminates with the fall 5k and spring 5k celebratory events that give them a tangible sense of global achievement. During fy 2022, we hosted programming at 51 sites. the fall 2021 and spring 2022 5ks were hosted with 1,317 participants that included Girls, coaches and community runners.
