Program areas at Global Dignity
Dignity education: after the severe restrictions on in-person activities throughout 2020, many of Global Dignity's country chapters returned to in-person events or a combination of in-person and virtual events. Global Dignity's chapters directly impacted more than 7,998,000 people in 2021.two new Dignity workshops, focused on the themes of identity, labels and acceptance, were designed to accommodate in-person and virtual settings. These workshop guides were made available, for free, on globaldignity.org and used by Global Dignity leaders in several countries.global Dignity's primary learning experiences (available in english, arabic, spanish and french) continued to be made available for free on globaldignity.org.two virtual webinars were held with dr. donna hicks, one of the world's leading authorities on Dignity and its role in healing, reconciliation and effective leadership. During the free webinars, dr. hicks reflected on why our world requires more of a commitment to Dignity than ever, following the challenging events of 2020.
Dignity in the workplace: Global Dignity continued to pilot the organization's newest major initiative with the Global consulting firm alixpartners. Throughout 2021 alixpartners employees took part in first-time and refresher Dignity workshop trainings. These trainings equip participants to deliver Dignity workshops in their communities or with the company's charity partners. The first Dignity workshop led by alixpartners employees took place, virtually connecting alixpartners parents and children in the united kingdom and the united states.
Global Dignity day: the organization held its annual Global Dignity day celebration on october 20, 2021. In-person and virtual events were held by Global Dignity's international chapters. Events were also held in schools and by community groups around the world. A Global Dignity day collaboration with the international committee of the red cross (icrc) featured a video highlighting the icrc's work to uphold the Dignity of those they serve, and video messages by icrc president peter maurer and Global Dignity co-founder crown prince haakon of norway. An international Global Dignity day celebration virtually connected students in schools across nine countries. Hosted by takingitglobal and emceed from the london offices of alixpartners, the event featured ziauddin yousafzai, cofounder of the malala fund and father of nobel peace prize laureate malala yousafzai; impact innovators lembasworks; and visual artist, writer, filmmaker and curator assinajaq weetaluktuk.social media significantly increased the reach of the Global Dignity day messages of inclusion, equality and shared humanity.
Dignity coloring book: how does your Dignity feel?, a coloring book and poem to help children understand Dignity, was translated into numerous new languages. The book is now available in 20 languages. In addition to free digital editions on Global Dignity's website, thousands of printed copies of the coloring book, along with colored pencil sets, were distributed to children in several countries. Participants from over 30 nations logged 40,000 kilometers during the Global event for Dignity, a virtual race to raise funds to distribute the coloring book and colored pencil sets to children in need.
Expo 2020 dubai: Global Dignity was invited to participate in dubai cares' dignified storytelling initiative which launched at expo 2020 dubai (held in 2021). Global Dignity provided the definition of Dignity for the official dignified storytelling handbook. Global Dignity board member and country chair for germany matthias bosch spoke on the topic of Dignity at the expo. Global Dignity board member and country chair for bangladesh runa khan participated in the "placing human Dignity at the heart of storytelling" session at the expo.
Dignity and the sustainable development goals: in 2021 Global Dignity released "how Global Dignity impacts the sustainable development goals," a report highlighting the link between Dignity and the united nations' sustainable development goals (sdgs), along with the work of Global Dignity's international chapters that impacts each of the 17 sdgs.
Purpose awards: renowned photographer alistair morrison and Global Dignity were awarded the "collaboration - best public awareness cause campaign" prize by the purpose awards for their collaboration on time to pause, a project in which 1,000 people in covid isolation discovered connection and sense of our shared humanity through conversation.
