Program areas at Global Energy Monitor

Oil & Gas: Global Energy Monitor's oil and gas program includes projects tracking oil and gas extraction, infrastructure, power plants, and regional gas production, as well as a weekly newsletter. Cumulatively, these projects account for more than 5,000 global oil and gas extraction areas, over 1,100 pipeline projects, 439,000 km of pipelines, and 12,000+ oil and gas power units. The trackers provide interactive maps and tables on GEM's website. The maps and tables allow users to see the location and satellite imagery of individual facilities and to click on links providing footnoted wiki pages on each facility. Tracker data is also provided in spreadsheet format to researchers at nonprofit groups, universities, international agencies, and media organizations.
Coal: Global Energy Monitor's coal program includes projects tracking coal plants, mines, terminals, and finance, as well as a weekly newsletter. Cumulatively, these projects account for more than 13,000 coal plants units, 2,000+ plant owners, 4,300 coal mines, and 12 billion tons of carbon dioxide emitted annually. The trackers provide interactive maps and tables on GEM's website. The maps and tables allow users to see the location and satellite imagery of individual facilities and to click on links providing footnoted wiki pages on each facility. Tracker data is also provided in spreadsheet format to researchers at nonprofit groups, universities, international agencies, and media organizations.
Renewables: Global Energy Monitor's renewables program includes projects tracking solar power, wind power, hydropower, geothermal power, bioenergy, and nuclear power. Cumulatively, these projects account for more than 20,000 solar farm phases, nearly 4,000 hydropower projects, and 1,300+ gigawatts of nuclear plant capacity. more than 26,000 wind farm phases, The trackers provide interactive maps and tables on GEM's website. The maps and tables allow users to see the location and satellite imagery of individual facilities and to click on links providing footnoted wiki pages on each facility. Tracker data is also provided in spreadsheet format to researchers at nonprofit groups, universities, international agencies, and media organizations.Other programs: Other projects at GEM include cross-cutting work such as our Global Methane Emitters Tracker and Private Equity Tracker, which examine trends in emissions, finance, and other relevant topics across a range of energy sectors.
