Program areas at Global Impact
Philippines: Education & Empowerment: Catalyst Leadership Academy's (CLA) 14th year was held at the Global Impact base in Davao City and ran for 4 weeks. This intensive Bible, leadership and personal development training for emerging leaders aims to grow students in their leadership capabilities. 45 students and 60 staff participated this year. From 2017 to 2022, a total of 694 students graduated from the academy with great results. Limitless Youth Summit: Approximately 600 participants from Mati, Lake Sebu and Astorga attended both in person Human Trafficking Awareness events and through the weekly Youth Limitless online platform. Education Scholarships: For the 2022 to 2023 school year, 17 full-time scholars from elementary to university level were assisted through methods such as financial scholarships, school supplies, computer equipment and additional services such as counseling and learning support. In addition, 6 students from Mati Davao Oriental and 3 students who are former CLA graduates were given assistance. 2 HP printers were provided to two of our CLA graduate students and financial assistance for three families was provided for their children's school supplies. 300 university leaders from 12 different universities in Davao City participated in the online leadership summit in May. 26 social work interns from University of Mindanao spent 4 months with Global Impact and were equipped as advocates and facilitators. Anti-Trafficking Work: 136 people received anti-trafficking facilitator's training including 60 youth from Compassion International and 48 college students. 1348 people from all sectors of the community were reached with Human Trafficking Awareness (HTA) training and/or presentations both online and face to face. Work continued in partnership with local governmental and community agencies to further the Anti-trafficking mission through our weekly radio program Usapang OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) which is broadcast throughout Philippines and internationally via internet to inform, educate and reach overseas Filipino workers and their families. In 2022 an estimated 25,000 people were reached. Psychosocial intervention was provided to 177 recipients (50 frontline workers who care for trafficked victims; 100 former rebels from Mati City and 27 persons under the DOJ XI's Witness Protection Program) Special Projects: Disaster relief: Global Impact provided food donations in continued support of families in Mindanao provinces affected by Typhoon Odette. We also sent assistance to over 30 families in Davao City and Davao Del Sur impacted by fire and flooding disasters Christmas Outreaches this year extended to 60 children, youth and adult members of the Amihan sa Dahican, an environmental people's organization; 45 former rebels many of whom were child soldiers, 100 children of the Happy Fish club, members of the 701st Brigate in Mati Davao Oriental and 5 families of Global Impact scholars. Christmas packs, prizes, games, and activities were part of the various celebrations.
Ukraine: Living Pearl Children's Home: Provided care for orphaned, abandoned and neglected Ukrainian children in a full-time residential care home. Holistic support in a family environment included meals, shelter, medical treatments, education, enrichment, and spiritual activites. 38 children (on average) called Living Pearl their full-time home this past year. 105 children were cared for in total (both full time residential care and part time care). Annual Projects: The school supply campaign raised funds to cover the full budget for fall clothing and shoes, school supplies, textbooks, and school lunches for 34 school age children. The Christmas Outreach campaign raised funds to provide church and community outreaches in Onufrievka as well as a charity event for refugees and a combined Christmas celebration and 11th anniversary party for the children and staff of Living Pearl. In Dnipro, the Christmas Outreach provided sweet gifts to more than 100 children of refugees and kids from families in difficult circumstances. More than 150 families received food packages. Special Projects: In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the end of February, a Ukraine Emergency Fund was established to support Living Pearl Children's Home as well as partners across the Global Impact Ukraine network of pastors, missionaries, churches, and families affected by the war. A car and van were purchased for the orphanage and was used for emergency transit of all children and staff to a safer location when fighting neared the home; the van was also used for distributing ongoing support to internally displaced refugees who had fled their homes in war zones to seek safety, protection, and assistance. Over the year, crucial aid was provided to Ukrainians in the form of food packages, diapers, infant formula, heaters, fuel, armored vests, blankets, and generators.
