Program areas at Global Inheritance
The effects of covid-19 and the pandemic continued to impact the live event world and our regular event calendar, providing several challenges. Global Inheritance spent more hours and resources rebuilding its volunteer network and developing campaigns supporting the planet's health during this difficult time. Developed and produced the art of recycling initiative at the coachella music & arts festival (indio, ca), further fest (turin, italy), and stagecoach music festival (indio, ca). Global Inheritance redesigned over 150 recycling bins by 70 different artists. The artwork was showcased at special pre-show free events at the festival and donated to schools after the festival to launch recycling and sustainability programs on campus. Performing all three nights at desert daze music festival (lake perris, ca), Global Inheritance produced meat the beetles educational experience to teach young people about the future of food. Sold-out crowds lined up for every hourly seating to experience edible insects up close while learning about their potential in addressing Global climate and food security issues. The assembled guests sampled some of our incredible insect dishes - cricket lasagna, manchurian scorpion, and superworm spanish tortilla, among others - and had the opportunity to engage with our educators and meat the beetles chef to learn about and discuss the edible insect revolution. Organized and produced a public transportation/carpooling initiative to encourage people to leave their cars at home and/or drive with four or more people in their car when traveling to stagecoach music festival and coachella music & arts festival (indio,ca). This campaign inspired people from different social groups/musical tastes to try carpooling, the subway or bus and reconsider how they viewed public transportation and shared rides. Over 8,000 people participated in the program. Global Inheritance produced the posted studio and posted studio at the coachella music & arts festival (indio,ca) and online in support of the documentary the territory, which focused on the issues of the amazon jungle and the indigenous tribes protecting them. This interactive art studio encourages event attendees to develop poster concepts around environmental and social issues they feel connected with. These poster concepts are put on display within the studio, and then a handful of posters are selected by a professional artist to redesign. The final redesigns are then placed online for people to download and use in school presentations, supporting the posted studio, Global Inheritance also produced a speaker series. The posted studio speaker stage is an opportunity to highlight leaders in the climate, social, and environmental education space who want to share their knowledge and inspire coachella attendees over two weekends. The speaker stage is flexible - taking the format that best presents the speaker's content: moderated q/a session, ted talk style presentation, show & tell or interactive workshop. This year's speaker stage included a number of high profile activists and environmentalists, including jaden smith, maggie baird, nasa scientist dr. anjali tripathi, danni Washington, redwood national park superintendent steve mietz,, sophia kianni, and more. Developed and operated a recycling store exchange program at festivals that saved over 1,100,000 million bottles, cans and cups worldwide in 2022. The program provided incentives to festival attendees for participating in the act of recycling in exchange for prizes and experiences. If not recycled, these bottles, cans, and cups would most likely land in a landfill. The recycling store visited a number of festivals across the united states and italy, including kappa futur festival (turin, italy), desert daze (lake perris, ca), and coachella/stagecoach music festivals (indio, ca). Developed, executed, and toured a California energy education campaign at the coachella music & arts festival in indio, ca and stagecoach music festival. These educational programs taught individuals and groups about kinetic energy, ways to create and convert energy using human power and reengineered playground equipment, how to respect your use of energy, the idea of working together as a team to generate energy., and the different ways to store energy.
