Program areas at Goal Justice
At the Nehemiah Action we asked both City and County Council members to each seek to identify $10M/yr in revenue streams to be allocated to their respective Housing Funds, with 30% of those funds being targeted at those earning just 30% of the Average Median Income to begin to address the affordable housing crisis that exists in Greenville County. GOAL-Justice successfully secured $5M of future revenue from the County over two years.
At the Nehemiah Action we asked state legislators to allocate ~$4M (a fraction of 1% of the budget surplus) to fund the 988 mental health crisis line, so that indviduals seeking help would no longer be put on hold. GOAL-Justice successfully secured this funding in 2023, but it is not yet recurring.
