Program areas at GOALS For Women
GOALS increased its capacity to provide services to more clients by hiring additional qualified staff who provided services to over 110 clients and 168 children for the BHCS program, 16 clients (parents and children) under Prescott Joseph M.O.U., and 34 clients under the City of Berkley contract. Demographics were 863% African American, 7% Caucasian, 6% (mixed race), 3% Latino and 1% Asian. Total Counseling and case management hours exceeded 201 with 81Z% rate of Engagement/retention and client treatment. Several clients completed high School SEG and 2 year college programs and vocation training and academic courses increasing their ability to transition from welfare to work. Some left the CALWORKS rolls. Some were ne to CALWORKS after losing jobs during the economic downturn, but are engaged in welfare to work plans to regain employment. Other measurable outcome included increased feelings of control, strengthened ability to cope, less severe and shorter depression terms, less worry and anxiety, increased sleep and concentration; greater feelings of empowerment, self-esteem, motivation and confidence in parenting skills and relationship with their children/families. Children's emotional needs were taken care of as we started to serve more teens and children.
