Program areas at Good Beginnings

Good Beginnings provides free assistance to individuals and families with newborns from birth through age 6 months. Good Beginnings' programs are available to every family with a new baby in our upper valley region (an approximate 40-mile radius from our west lebanon, nh office), including adoptive and foster families, regardless of income or circumstance of the family. Our services include an in-home volunteer visitor program and an education/support program. Many families engage in our in-home volunteer visitor program, which matches families with a trained volunteer (often living in the same town) who visits once a week for 2-3 hours for three consecutive months to provide much needed respite for parents at a vulnerable time in a family's life. Our education/support program provides parent educational materials, children's books, emergency financial assistance, emotional support and community connections. We also offer the "mom", mentors of moms, program for virtual support of mothers of babies, as part of our education/support offerings. This fiscal year Good Beginnings served 143 families with in-home volunteers for 12 weeks per family, which included 750 visits and over 2,150 volunteer hours. We served 260 adults, 18 first-time moms and 231 children.
