Good Counsel Services

Good Counsel in 2022 was able to increase legal literacy, allow nonprofits to access legal services, help asylees as well as those seeking humanitarian parolee file applications, and help develop new legal talent. In the first half of the year, we helped create over 15 new nonprofits who are working to better serve their community. We also continued to nurture many in existence with the tools and legal advice necessary for success. Good Counsel provided one-on-one legal services to a wide range of clients who would have otherwise faced obstacles.

Fiscal Sponsorship - Good Counsel acts as fiscal sponsor to a number of groups that engage in activities that are related and consistent with the organizations mission. Good Counsel accepts tax-deductible donations and grants on behalf of fiscally sponsored groups and then administers the expenditures for designated tax-exempt charitable purposes. Fiscal Sponsorship support is offered to legal advocacy and social awareness groups that focus on projects to empower the community at large and is selected on a case -by-case basis.

Good Counsel helped multiple asylum applicants as many were applying for humanitarian parole in 2022. We processed over 100 HP packets, working with the sponsors and families on the ground in Afghanistan to help American affiliates escape the Taliban regime. We worked with pro bono lawyers,while also giving law students and undergraduates access to meaningful work.
