Program areas at Good News Mission
Mens shelter program - provided a bed for an average of 106 men each night. Served 79,121 meals, provided medical clinic services and distributed many articles of clothing. 20 men received christ.
Youth center - provided daily activities for community youth. Children received tutoring, field trips and bible lessons, as well as safe supervised recreation. An average of 39 youths attended the youth center per day, an average of 14 children were tutored per day, and 107 children received christ. Served 427 different children throught the year.
Family shelter - family shelter had no residents during this time frame as we are without a director of family services.
Medical clinic - provided physician/nurse clinic visits for 2,995 patients. The clinic offers free medical care to uninsured/underinsured people from the neighborhood. The doctors and nurses also see youth center children and mens shelter residents.
Boys home - the forty day summer program began with 24 teen boys and 14 of them graduated. The nine month academy program served 12 boys for the academic year. 12 students received christ.
Small parts assembly - 18 different men received skills training in the areas of metal fabrication, assembly work and woodworking.
Thrift store - provided low cost household items. All items donated. Trained 5 men in retail management, cash register and sales clerk operations and merchandising.
