Program areas at GoodCities
City Impact Accelerator: Using the tools of appreciative inquiry and results-based conversations, GoodCities is providing leadership development for leaders engaging in cross-sector collaborations to move the needle on critical social issues. The City Impact Accelerator engages teams of leaders from cities in three one-and-a-half day sessions over eight months and offers community coaching to help leaders achieve their strategies. In 2023 GoodCities provided the City Impact Accelerator for thirty-eight leadership teams from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, and Kansas City convened by the Salvation Army and in Minneapolis convened by local churches. In Kansas City, GoodCities led the implementation of ZeroKC a plan from the Mayor's Office to end homelessness. In Minneapolis Churches United brought predominantly Black and predominantly White churches together to live reconciled lives and have economic community impact. Teams from other cities implemented new plans for solving stubborn issues related to poverty such as homelessness, literacy, and workforce development.
City Connect: GoodCities communications services offers books, articles, blogs, videos, podcasts and other media resources through our website at www.goodcities.net. These resources are vitally important to the leadership of local groups who are using collective impact to address critical societal issues in cities.
City Coach: GoodCities' community coaching is a vital part of our leadership development work as leaders implement new plans to impact communities with practical solutions. In 2023, Glenn Barth and Reggie McNeal provided leadership coaching with leaders of the Salvation Army in the three Florida cities and Kansas City (cited above) solving issues related to at-risk youth, housing the homeless, providing temporary shelter, and workforce development. In addition, Glenn mentored the leader of Timber Bay, a nonprofit helping at-risk youth mature into productive adults.
