The School's motto, "respect for self, respect for others, and respect for The world" (The 3rs) guides The interactions of all adults and children on campus and within The community, and supports The School's mission. The Gooden School inspires students to be intellectually curious and resilient while preparing them to lead lives of kindness, integrity, and respect. The School is intentionally small, with one class per grade, recruits and retains excellent faculty through a competitive salary and benefits package, and offers a very rich curriculum that encourages collaboration and experiential learning. The community is dynamic; it has many special events and traditions, chapel services, and service learning opportunities that bring families together. Students participate in cocurricular classes, such as art, music (choral and instrumental), pe, drama, elective classes, foreign languages and stem, and there are after-school programs as well. Gooden graduates are leaders in their communities; they listen actively, they advocate for themselves, and they work collaboratively and creatively to solve problems. The Gooden School served approximately 183 students in kindergarten through 8th grade during The year. The School's minority enrollment was 61.2% and The student-teacher ratio was 10:1.
Gasp stands for: Gooden after-school program. This program is for Gooden students who stay after School from 3:15-6:00 pm. The program offers age-appropriate snacks and classes, such as sports and academic enrichment activities provided by Gooden staff and outside vendors. There is also a study-hall so that students can get help with homework mon-thur. Gooden's behavior expectations and The 3rs also apply during gasp. The Gooden School served approximately 30 students in kindergarten through 8th grade during The year.
Summer School is offered during june and july in two three-week sessions. There are academic classes as well as kindergarten preparation, crafts, water play, sports development, and other classes in The morning. The afternoons include some free play as well. While this program primarily serves Gooden students, many local students enrolled at other schools also attend. Gooden's behavior expectations and The 3rs also apply during summer School. The Gooden School served approximately 110 students in kindergarten through 8th grade during The year.
