Program areas at Grant Park Conservancy
The Grant Park Conservancy maintains Grant Park in conjunction with the city of atlanta and hosts project g.r.a.n.tGranta.n.t. Work days in the Park. Work days are an opportunity to educate volunteers, build support in the neighborhood, and make an environmental impact. Volunteers remove debris, non-native plant species, and invasive vines. They spread tons of mulch to protect the trees, help with pruning and weeding to keep sightlines open, and pick up trash. These efforts keep the Park clean, healthy and safe.
The Grant Park Conservancy works to create a world-class Park by raising funds for and executing specific capital improvement and ecological projects to restore and improve the Park's natural health and built environment. Projects include the restoration of historic structures, such as the 1927 milledge fountain, the circa 1890 lion bridge, and 1896 erskine fountain, and ecologial projects such as invasive plant removal, tree plantings and canopy care, and the disign, installation and maintenance of gardens at renovated sites, including a rain garden at the lion bridge and a daffodil project garden at the erskine fountain.
The Grant Park Conservancy hosts programming and fundraising events to build awareness of the organization's role in restoring, beautifying, and maintaining Grant Park as well as to raise funds to support the gpc's work. Each year, the gpc hosts the summer shade festival, a free two-day festival in Grant Park where attendees enjoy live music, an artists market, and food trucks.the organization also hosts the canopy soiree event that includes dinner, music, and dancing.
