Van's hall - roof 66,207 greater delta restoration association funds for this grant came from two sources: 50,000 from the state of Utah and 16,207 from the Heritage Area's federal funds. Van's hall is a historic dance hall located on main street in delta, Utah. Restoration of van's hall has been a goal of many delta residents for decades. Older delta residents recall fond memories of dances and other events held there in the 1940s-1960s. Van's hall is on the national register of historic places. The purpose of this project was to replace the roof over a significant portion of the dance hall in order to prevent water damage to the interior. This was a key recommendation in the thorough engineering study completed on the building earlier in 2022. Making the building weather tight is an important step toward preserving the building and advancing the overall effort to return the 2nd-story dance hall to a more functional space for cultural activities and community events. This will serve the building and organization well in the short run, allowing more visitation and events (even if on a somewhat limited basis), and will build toward more full-fledged usage in the coming months and years. The long-term goal is to revive van's hall as part of a broader effort to revitalize delta's downtown through investment in cultural and historic assets.
Centennial fine arts center - ada access 20,000 white pine community choir association the ely lds stake tabernacle (aka centennial fine arts center) is on the national register of historic places and is an anchor structure in ely's historic downtown. Many critical improvements to the building have been made in the past year, including construction of a new roof. Gbhap grant funds have been utilized in the first phase of creating ada access to the building. All preliminary work to make the building accessible has been done including construction of an exterior elevator entrance, upgraded electrical connections, construction of the elevator shaft and machine room, and necessary structural supports so that the building will be able to handle the increased physical and energy loads once the elevator is installed. Just the installation of the elevator remains to complete the project. The gbhap grant provided a small portion of the total project cost, which was funded by over 200k in state grants and private donations.
Millard county tourism - ohv trail mapping 20,000 this project created digitized maps in a gps format of off highway vehicle (ohv) trails in millard county, Utah. This format allows ohv users to download a trail and access roads to their smartphones and follow exactly where they are on any trail. Not only does this tool enhance recreation opportunities, but it also provides for a safer experience. Millard county also mapped access roads from communities to ohv destinations and points of interest and will provide difficulty levels and distances of each trail. The project also included a strategic development plan with both juab and beaver counties to promote responsible ohv use and promote an environmental consciousness of cultural, historical and geological concerns in these counties. Millard county will also be adding new kiosk and trail signage.
