Catalytic initiatives:our catalytic initiatives fund supports our research and poll publications as well as our innovation pilots. This includes our annual polling of los angeles families on their perspectives of los angeles Public education and research on the state of los angeles Public Schools. This fund also supports our modern classrooms project investment, which provides online professional development to los angeles teachers.
Education recovery: our education recovery fund primarily supports our summer of joy initiative, which facilitates a collaboration across lausd, city of la, local philanthropy and dozens of nonprofit service providers to offer free in-person summer enrichment to students in low-income communities. Additionally, the fund also supports our high school internship pilot, which aims to increase the number of high school students completing internships offered by losangeles employers.
Collective action initiative:our collective action initiative invests in strengthening the organizations engaged in advocacy to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for los angeles Public school students. In addition, we provide capacity building support to amplify their advocacy through earned and social media. A small portion of the initiative also supports online publications to expand their coverage of los angeles Public education.
Quality seat growth:our quality seat growth program is focused on increasing the number of quality seats in los angeles. We invest in the (1) replication of quality Schools (2) merger of lower performing Schools into quality school models and (3) improvement of Schools ("lifting to Great") close to our quality bar criteria. We also support quality Schools by convening them to collaborate and identify scalable best practices for improving all Public Schools.
