Program areas at Greater Denver Cares Mentoring

Greater Denver CARES provides psychoeducational support/identity healing. We are in five Denver Publics schools. We meet with student once to twice a week (depending on school), providing equitable access to mental health resources as well and Afro-centric healing and affirming practices. Last year, we served 70 students providing a space for them to address their personal traumas. We have also taken part in community events working with parents and youth. Our organization has partnered with other Black-led, woman-led organizations to leverage our impact on DPS. The impact that we experience with our kids is immeasurable, they have expressed that our groups have learned more about themselves, in our groups that any other time in their life. They appreciate and value the time with our facilitators, because it has given them another person they can talk to a person they can confide in.
