Program areas at Greater Des Moines Partnership
Regional economic development is the cornerstone of the Partnership's mission. In 2023, goals were accomplished by assisting with 31 new company locations to and business expansions in the region and increased capital investment of more than $2 billion in the region. In accomplishing these goals, the Partnership visited numerous local companies, pursued prospect visits and carried out recruitment trips and trade shows. In addition, Partnership efforts resulted in numerous high-profile media placements which highlighted regional strengths and opportunities.
Talent development is a primary pillar of the Partnership's mission, and the organization's strategies stretch from local to global. Programming for high school students, college interns and young professionals supports talent exploration and development at early stages, setting rising talent on pathways to success. A national talent marketing campaign reaches millions of prospective new workers every year and serves to bring in talent to fill the local workforce. Dsm is an international community with a large foreign-born population and the Partnership cultivates and reaches this segment through programming, studies and collaborative efforts. The Partnership convenes local stakeholders including employers, governments, nonprofits and elected officials and the organization is uniquely positioned to lead the dsm community to talent development solutions. This work leads to economic growth and prosperity, both for businesses and people at all levels of their careers. The Partnership through its visionary model is aligned with 23 regional chambers of commerce in the region and as a result has more than 6,500 member organizations. It offers numerous educational and professional development opportunities to help startups and small businesses grow, as well as a formal business accelerator program. Its talent development and education efforts connect employers and prospects across several employment sectors and adds value through increased programming and career development connections.
