Historic Preservation Education - Throughout the year Preservation Houston offers a variety of in-person and virtual lectures, presentations, open houses and tours designed to educate participants about the benefits and value of historic preservation and instill a preservation ethic. A selection of books for adults and children on Houston, Texas history and architecture, urbanism and historic preservation are offered for sale.
Cornerstone Dinner / Good Brick Awards presentation - Preservation Houston annually presents Good Brick Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the preservation, restoration and enhancement of Houston's historic buildings. The event celebrates and educates about the benefits of historic preservation and the quality of life improvements that impact all residents of the city.
Technical Guidance - Preservation Houston's Professionally degreed staff preservationist advocates for historic preservation on a personal level by offering technical assistance and advice to homeowners, neighborhood groups, media, realtors, developers, architects, and other interested parties about the benefits of historic preservation through landmark designation, historic district creation and the re-use of buildings for aesthetic, economic, quality of life and environmental benefits.
