Green Living Science transforms Detroit through waste and recycling education. GLS educators provide engaging in-class science lessons for students to learn about the three Rs, while increasing environmental awareness and personal responsibility. Additionally, GLS hosts recycling workshops for Detroit residents living in single-family homes or multi-family homes with no more than 4 units to learn how to recycle through the city curbside program.

Program areas at Green Living Science

Community - GLS works closely in the community to help provide access to programming. Community programming targets residents of all ages and helps to bring new resources to the Lincoln Street Art Park.
Education: Working in partnership with local schools and teachers, we provide recycling and environmental education. These lessons are aligned with Michigan science standards, and heavily incorporate the different STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) disciplines.
Curbside Recycling Program: Recycling Workshops: GLS hosts recycling workshops at block club and community group meetings to train Detroit residents living in single family homes or multi-family homes no more than 4 units how to recycle through the city curbside recycling program.
Ambassador Program: The ambassador programs employ Detroiters to assist with attending community events through the city of Detroit to sign up residents for free recycling carts for their homes.
-Bee Green Business - GLS assists businesses, multi-family housing, and schools to set up waste reduction and recycling programs.
