Description
Renew New England Alliance is dedicated to combating the overlapping crises of climate change, economic inequality and racial injustice through deep coalition building, regional policy development and grassroots organizing. RNEA assembled a truly unprecedented multi-racial, multi-issue regional coalition across the six New England states. The coalition - which includes approximately 150 organizations - brought together frontline communities, Indigenous tribes, labor unions, environmental groups, faith-based organizations and more to tackle these critical issues together.

Program areas at Renew New England Alliance

Organizer training: Renew u.s. Alliance ran and further developed its comprehensive organizer training program. This program debuted at the end of 2021 with online public classes to teach a wide range of organizing and advocacy skills, with an emphasis on recruiting participants from marginalized communities and making movement work and learning accessible. Throughout 2022, the program continued to train leaders for Renew's partners and the progressive movement as a whole, centering programs around relationship-building, communication, and trauma-informed leadership, as well as practices like deep canvassing.coalition building: Renew u.s. Alliance continued deepening and working with its multi-racial, multi-issue coalition across six northeastern states, which has brought together frontline communities, indigenous tribes, labor unions, environmental justice advocates, youth groups, racial justice organizations, anti-poverty and affordable housingadvocates and food justice networks. We developed relationships with organizations in New states across the country and deepened inclusive organizing practices and democratic governance structures among all of our existing coalitions. Policy and program development: Renew u.s. Alliance continued its policy and program development process, including by convening coalition members in working groups to flesh out potential campaigns with input from their membership base, other impacted community members, and organizers working on parallel fights in other places.
