Program areas at Greencorps Chicago

The Greencorps Chicago Not-for -Profit operated its second year of the Greencorps Chicago-Terra Firma program, a green industry job training program for individuals with barriers to employment. In the 2022 program year, there were a total 17 graduates with 35% completion of Cohort 1, 69% of Cohort 2, and 83% of Crew Supervisors. 100% successfully obtained certifications in 10-hour OSHA General Safety Standards, 24-hour OSHA HazWoper, First Aid & CPR. 67% received the IL Department of Agriculture Pesticide License. These certifications are fundamental to perform work on empty and vacant lots and prepare participants for career opportunities in construction and landscaping industries. Through this program, participants improved and maintained 43 acres in the mid-South region of the City of Chicago in 111 project days.
