Program areas at Greene County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Greene co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local state and national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring, communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in the sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth education efforts annually the Greene County Farm Bureau remains involved as part of the oversight of agriculture youth developement in the area. The efforts include outreach to rural suburban and urban youth. The Greene County Farm Bureau assists in manning and funding a agriculture education field day for 800 3rd grade students that spotlights and stresses how important agriculture is to national safety and sustainability.
Agriculture leadership activities the Greene County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local, agricultural & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agriculutral civic & community organizations. Leaders attend district state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications and agricultural activities.
