Program areas at Growiser-Grande Ronde Overlook Wild Flower Institute Serving Ecol Rest
Land preservation for habitat conservation: weed control and forest restoration was continued. Fire patrol protection bill was paid. Several acres of insect killed ponderosa pines were thinned.
Ecological education: six 6th-grade outdoor-school classes were each provided with a day of ecological education. Tours were also provided for rangeland ecology and biology classes from eastern Oregon university.
Arboretum maintenance and research: mountain lady's slipper orchid plots were maintained and several more established. Two research programs were continued to study orchid seed germination and early growth.
Growiser protected 260 acres of land for the conservation of native plants for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
The preserve served as a site for ecological education for hundreds of visitors and many more via tv and internet.
The organization is creating and maintaining a grassland of native plant species and an old-growth forest.
The field station serves as the hub for visitors and for carrying out the organization's business.
