Gsuc Child Development and Learning Center

See schedule o:a full-day educational program was implemented from august 2022 through june 2023 for 18 children of graduate Center graduate students, faculty and staff in two classrooms. The staff provided a safe and nurturing environment for each of the children, while encouraging self-expression and an enthusiasm for Learning. Through play and exploration, the children gained skills in each area of their Development as they engaged with open ended manipulatives and art materials. On wednesdays, the children participated in a program called yo re mi, which combines music, yoga and mindfulness education for young children. Both classes had a half hour session to engage in activities that support and build sensory integration, cognitive Development, sequencing, and physical coordination. The Child care Center followed the cdc, cuny and nyc department of health covid-19 guidelines to maintain everyone's health and safety. As students returned to campus, additional families were accepted. During this time, visitors were limited at the Center while the children were in attendance. All staff were fully vaccinated. All of our events were held remotely and we met with families through zoom for parent orientation, curriculum night, and parent teacher conferences.
