Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue (GOFAR)

In 2023, our second full year of operations, we rescued 668 neglected, abused and/or unwanted animals from an uncertain and likely tragic fate and found homes for 587 animals to give them their much deserved second chance at true happiness. This is a step change increase in our impact on animals in South Florida vs driven by our decision to lease an existing kennel facility with 74 kennels. This 3 year lease, renewable on an annual basis after the initial 3 years, commenced on July 1st, 2022 and allowed us to convert from a 100% foster based rescue to a physical rescue facility (while still maintaining our foster component). During this time period, we took on many severe medical cases where animals had no chance at any quality of life, or even a life at all, without a rescue determined to find a way to pay for surgeries, hospitalization stays and rehabilitation. We continue to establish and grow relationships with local veterinarians and spay/neuter clinics and significantly grew our volunteer and donor base. Our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram has expanded greatly and allows us to highlight our mission, our challenges, our accomplishments and most importantly, our animals.
