Habitat for Humanity of Aransas County believes in a world where everyone has a decent place to live. With community support, volunteers, and generous contributions, we empower families with a hand up, not a hand out. Our home repair program was very successful in the year ending june 20, 2023. We completed the construction of five ada-compliant ramps, providing essential accessibility for those in need. Additionally, we remodeled three ada-compliant bathrooms, catering to the specific needs of two veterans and one individual with a handicap. We also executed fifteen repairs. Some of these repairs were significant and positively impacted the quality of life for numerous individuals within our community.
At Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to own a safe and affordable home. That's why we have rebranded our low-cost housing program as "attainable housing" to emphasize that it is achievable for families of all backgrounds and income levels. Our approach to attainable housing involves partnerships with local businesses, volunteers, and donors who contribute to constructing homes, making them more affordable for families in need. We also offer no-interest mortgages and provide financial education and counseling services to help families manage their finances effectively. Affordable payments mean that mortgage payments never exceed one third of the families income. Moreover, our attainable housing program takes a sustainable approach by using energy-efficient materials and designs, which reduces overall costs for homeowners. This not only makes homes more affordable but also helps families save money on utility bills in the long run. Lastly, we engage families in the building process, fostering a sense of ownership and belonging from the ground up.
When a family is not receiving a home from Habitat for Humanity, we still offer support and resources through our family services program. Our team works closely with families to assess their needs and provide them with resources such as financial education, as well as referrals to other organizations that can assist with housing solutions. Sometimes, there is work to be done that will make owning a Habitat home attainable. We understand that having access to safe and affordable housing is crucial for overall well-being, and we strive to provide support in any way we can. There are steps that families can take to work towards the dream of home ownership with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to bring hope to all we encounter.
