Program areas at Habitat for Humanity - Harrisburg Area HFH of GTR
Through generous funding Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area was able to fund the repairs of several homes through the critical home repair program. the critical home repair program is designed to help keep low-income families in their existing home by making home repairs for which there is an need. Along with other requirements, household gross income must be below 80% of the Area median family income in order to qualify. 2023-2024 fiscal year saw the completion of one home dedicated to a deserving family. Volunteers completed interior and exterior repairs on 18 homes. Also in this fiscal year, three homeowners reached the milestone of owning their home. All three have paid off their mortgage. This brings Harrisburg Habitat's portfolio down to 22 homeowners. Striving to help those families realize financial stability. We were also able to work with 405 volunteers for a total number of 3,753 volunteer hours.
Restores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from Area landfills. Sales of donated items help Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area partner with local families to build, rehabilitate and repair safe and affordable homes in the community.
