Program areas at Habitat for Humanity Tucson
Habitat for Humanity Tucson partners with low-income individuals and families to build or improve a safe and stable place to call home. Utilizing volunteer efforts, Habitat Tucson builds and rehabilitates market quality homes to sell to eligible low-income families with a non-interest-bearing mortgage. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers, completing 250 hours per applicant of "sweat equity" through home construction or in another form of service to Habitat Tucson. This fiscal year, Habitat sold 12 new energy efficient homes to low-income families in Pima County. (this next part is continued on Sched O).Habitat Tucson also partners with the community to provide critical and minor home repair services, which include roof replacements, mechanical system upgrades, exterior repairs, landscaping and neighborhood clean ups and minor interior modifications.
