Program areas at Hamblen County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Hamblen co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local, state & national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in the sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth leadership activities Hamblen County Farm Bureau supports youth agriculture organizations both financailly and with volunteer hours. The organization is a primary sponsor of the Hamblen County 4-h and future farmers of america organizations. The Hamblen County Farm Bureau sponsors a very educatoinal Farm day where about 700 elementary school children attend and get to tour a working Farm and see what goes on everyday on a Farm and how important agriculture is to everyday life.
Agriculture leadership activities the Hamblen County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural, civic, & community organizations. Leaders attend district, state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications, and agricultural activities.
