Hamilton County Farm Bureau highlighted the importance of agriculture at its annual Farm-City Week Awards Banquet in Nov. The banquet recognized the top five Hamilton County 4th grade students who wrote winning essays on Why is Agriculture Important to America? The contest was open to all Hamilton County 4th grade students. The contest helped educate students on the importance of agriculture and farming.
Hamilton County Farm Bureau supports and fosters students interest in agriculture in our community. Students are provided several opportunites throughtout the year to participate in events such as speech contests and poster contest. We support our 4-H and FFA students. We also provide scholarships to encourage the pursuit of a higher education.
The Spring Ag day for students in Hamilton County allows students to interact with our Young Farmers and Ranchers as well as our Women's Committee. Our goal is to have the public gain an appreciation for the agriculture and its impact to our community. We partnered with UF/IFAS Extension to give students the opportunity to have hands on experience with farm animals and machinery. We use this event as a way to expose the urban population to agriculture.
