Three Essential Services: Food, Education and Basic Health Care In 2023, Hands at Work provided holistic care for 1,625 orphaned and vulnerable children by supporting the efforts of local community-based volunteers. These Care Workers conduct home visits and provide three Essential Services -- food security, education and basic health care -- to children in the countries of Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini (formerly Swaziland).
Volunteer Stipend/Support To provide living expenses and support for long-term volunteers serving in Africa.
Project Support: Funds were used for building schools, toilets and kitchens; maintaining and repairing existing infrastructure; start-up costs for income generating activities like community gardens; conducting outreach; facilitating leadership development training and mentoring activities for local community based volunteers in Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini (formerly Swaziland).
