Harambee Power TalkHarambee Power Talk is a program dedicated to conversations with PUSD students around topics that are meant to challenge unhealthy belief systems and thought patterns. Power Talk is an attempt to address the social-emotional needs of our students from a culturally relevant perspective. We are committed to empowering scholastic improvement, character development, and intergenerational leadership.We build upon concepts like: VisionGrowth MindsetDisciplineCourage Empathy & moreHarambee served 150 scholars this year with this program.
Harambee Performing ArtsHarambee Performing Arts is committed to empowering students to step into their power, creativity, and personal genius through various artistic disciplines. Our efforts include teaching from professionals across the disciplines of singing, dance, songwriting, poetry, music production, and fine arts. This year, Harambee launched its original Christmas Musical: Bethlehem. Harambee's program director wrote and produced the original music and book. This experience gave scholars the opportunity to express their passions for acting, dancing, singing, and production. Over 800 community and family members attended this years production.
Harambee had an incredibly successful year during the fiscal year 22-23. Programmatic accomplishments are listed below: Harambee After The Bell - After School Programming In partnership with Pasadena Unified School District, Harambees After The Bell is addressing the needs of our community by providing a safe space for students to be after school. We are building positive relationships between the student population and our Harambee Youth Advocates. We are sowing into tomorrow's leaders today through team building, athletics, performing arts enrichment, games, and academic support. We understand that the scholastic well-being of our children is a high priority, but we also believe in prioritizing the holistic development of those in our care. This year, Harambee served over 100 scholars in this program.
