Program areas at Harmony at Home
Sticks & stones is a trauma informed school-based counseling program designed specifically for children who have been exposed to violence and trauma. The focus of the ten-week curriculum is to help children identify and express, in healthy ways, the various feelings they have. This is accomplished in small groups and in some cases individually. Throughout the ten weeks the children learn that any feelings they have are okay. It is the action they take in response to those feelings thatneeds to be expressed in healthy ways. The children and youth learn new coping, communication, and life skills that they can use every day at school, Home and in their per relationships. Various interventions include art, role-playing, discussion, relaxation/breathing exercises, and communication-focused anger management games.
