Program areas at Harmony at Home

Sticks & stones is a trauma informed school-based counseling program designed specifically for children who have been exposed to violence and trauma. The focus of the ten-week curriculum is to help children identify and express, in healthy ways, the various feelings they have. This is accomplished in small groups and in some cases individually. Throughout the ten weeks the children learn that any feelings they have are okay. It is the action they take in response to those feelings thatneeds to be expressed in healthy ways. The children and youth learn new coping, communication, and life skills that they can use every day at school, Home and in their per relationships. Various interventions include art, role-playing, discussion, relaxation/breathing exercises, and communication-focused anger management games.
Harmony at Home provides our community with comprehensive social and emotional support. Our family first program supports young parents in graduating high school, going on to higher learning and being the best first teachers to their children. This program is helping young families end the cycles of poverty. Harmony at Home offers counseling to individuals, families, couples and children in our carmel and salinas offices. In order to support children and families in the community, we partner with various agencies throughout monterey county. As part of our community programs, Harmony at Home's children 1st curriculum is helping families transition through separation and divorce more effectively with minimal trauma to the children.
Bullying prevention program's goal is to reduce existing bullying problems among students, to prevent the developments of new bullying problems and to achieve better peer relations at schools. Our bullying prevention team supports our school partners with the implementation of a student-led assembly (sla), class meetings, one on one individual bullying prevention support, staff trainings, parent workshops that are provided in english and spanish and with community events.
