Hiedb fy 2022-23 program 1 - comprehensive Economic Development strategy (ceds)the comprehensive Economic Development strategy (ceds) was updated for both Hawaii county and the state of Hawaii under contract with the Hawaii state office of planning and sustainable Development and the Economic Development alliance of Hawaii. The ceds serves as the "roadmap" of Economic Development for the next five years and is a requirement of the u.s. department of commerce Economic Development administration (eda) to qualify for federal funds through the eda Economic adjustment and other programs. Note that other federal agencies also require initiatives/projects to be included in the ceds to qualify for funding. This strategy will provide the current state of Hawaii county economically and socially, as well as provide goals for Hawaii county beginning in 2023. At a higher level, the documents produced as an outcome, is meant to provide guidance and regional context for policy making in Hawaii county and the state of Hawaii respectively. Note that ceds were produced by others for the counties of kaua`i and maui, and the city and county of honolulu.
Fy2022-23 major program 3: 37th space symposiumthe space symposium has brought together space leaders from around the world to discuss, address and plan for the future of space and has become the forum for information on all sectors of space. In recognition of the magnitude of project opportunities in astronomy, aviation, and aerospace initiatives on hawai`Hawaii`i Island, hawai`Hawaii`i Island Economic dev1,200elopment Board (hiedb) has participated in the hawai`Hawaii`i exhibit at the 37th space symposium held in Colorado springs, Colorado from april 17 -20, 2023
Hiedb fy 2022-23 program 2 - wailuku river hydroelectric power project community engagement the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board (hiedb) supported and collaborated with bhe renewables in developing and implementing a public education and community engagement program to increase awareness and understanding by Hawaii residents, business leaders, elected officials, and policymakers of the wailuku river hydroelectric project as a proven source of clean energy aligned with hawai`i's clean energy objectives including and not limited to act 238 slh 2022 mandating the reduction of greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions by the year 2030 to fifty percent (50%) lower than 2005 leve
