Program areas at Hayward Area Recreation and Park District Foundation
As a fundraising entity with the sole purpose of providing much-needed Park improvements, Recreation programming, and scholarship programs, the h.a.r.d. Foundation hosts a variety of special events and is active in seeking individual gifts, grants and other fund development opportunities to support the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District.
The Foundation's annual golf tournament raised funds to provide scholarships to support the renovations at sulphur creek nature center. The 18-hole tournament promoted community relations and sponsor involvement. Funding also supports a variety of community programs and services of hard, such as holiday tree lighting events held for local residents.
Sulphur creek nature center outdoor classroom, amphitheater, and wayfinding signage project. The Foundation provided significant funding to close the gap on improvements to sulphur creek nature center. The suplphur creek nature center is a wildlife refuge that is home to many native animals who have been sick, injured or orphaned and serves as an oasis for its animal residents. The nature center welcomes 40,000 visitors each year from school-aged children to seniors. Community members engage with the nature center throughout the year through a vareity of educational programs, camp opportunities and community events. The Foundation provided free swim safety programs for residents of the h.a.r.d. As well as provided fee assistance and scholarships to low income residents.
