Program areas at Hayward Area Recreation and Park District Foundation
As a fundraising entity, with the sole purpose of providing needed Park improvements, Recreation programming and scholarships, we host fundraising events and seek grants to foster and support the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District efforts.
The Foundation's annual golf tournament raised funds to provide scholarships for low-income youth. The 9-hole tournament promoted community relations and sponsor involvement. Funding also supports a variety of community programs and services of hard, such as holiday tree lighting events held for local residents.
Mia's dream come true playground is a one acre Park built for "all" with an emphasis on residents with disabilities who lack resources and access to be mobile, exercise and play. The playground was designed for children and adults with physical, sensory and multiple disabilities, along with those with chronic health impairments, communicative and cognitive disabilities. Mia's dream all abilities Park was completed and open to the community in fall 2021, with ongoing support continuing in 2022. The Foundation provided free swim safety programs for residents of the h.a.r.d. As well as provided fee assistance and scholarships to low income residents.
