Campaign & policy - hcfa's policy team members are experts in local, state and federal Health Care policy. They analyze the laws, regulations and policies that shape both the public and private Health insurance markets to ensure that coverage and Care are equitable, accessible and affordable. The organization convenes and participates in several long-standing coalitions focused on oral Health, prescription drug affordability, pediatric behavioral Health, and many other critical issues. Hcfa engages in local community work. Hcfa partners with government agencies and dozens of local community-based organizations to help residents in target communities maintain Health insurance coverage after the federal public Health emergency protections ended and get covid-19 vaccinations.
Helpline & outreach - hcfa's core programs include education and engaging consumers in Health Care discussions, and assisting individuals and familes in obtaining the Care and coverage they need.hcfa's key direct service program is the helpline the only statewide multilingual phone service that helps Massachusetts residents at All income levels with enrolling into Health insurance coverage. The helpline answers questions about insurance and troubleshoots cases in english, spanish portuguese, haitian creole, and french and the helpline takes approximately 20,000 calls each year. Hcfa's helpline, policy, and advocacy team works to identify trends from helpline calls and then aims to develop systematic policy solutions to the problems facing consumers.
