Program areas at Helping Hands of Vegas Valley
Respite Care Program-provides respite funds for the caregiver of a recipient age 60 or over. The recipient must be a resident of Southern Nevada, have a need for 24-hour supervision and reside with the caregiver. Respite can be used for medical reasons, vacation, or any other time needed in order to help reduce the stress level of the caregiver. Over 500 individuals were helped by this program during the year.
Senior Necessities Program-through collaboration with other community organizations, we have established a pantry of non-pershable items and offer a free bag of food and paper goods once a month to help seniors supplement nutritional needs. The recipient must be a Clark County resident, at least 60 years of age and have annual income at or below 150% of the current poverty guidelines. During the fiscal year, over 900 individuals were helped through this program. Home Repair Program - Minor home repair services are provided to senior citizens 60 and older living in authorized zip codes and must own and live in the residence. Repairs that are allowed by the organization include repairs that most homeowners would do themselves, but our clients are physically unable to do for themselves any longer and maintenance like changing of light bulbs, smoke alarms and smoke alarm batteries, air filters, door locks and other small projects. In addition, we also pay for contractors to complete appliance repairs, and small HVAC repairs. Nutrition Program- Nutrition services are provided to senior citizens 60 and older through a community congregate meal in the Las Vegas Valley. This meal is open to seniors and their Caregivers. In addition, we provided home delivered meals to homebound senior citizens living in rural designated areas of Nevada. These meals are drop shipped to the clients monthly.
Transportaion Program-provides services for seniors through the use of fully equipped handicap vehicles, taking them to medical appointments, shopping, etc. Participants must be age 60 or over. Over 600 individuals participated in this program.
