Program areas at Higher Education Consortium For Special Education
Monitor legislation developed by the Congress that is relevant to HECSEs mission and provide information to Congress regarding the legislation; coordinate and collaborate with the federal government and other national organizations that are concerned about special edcuation leadership.
Organization provides training to members to improve: 1) administration and doctoral leadership skills, 2) quality of doctoral level leadership curriculum and courses of study, 3) quality and currency of research, and 4) ability to properly fund programs.
Organization/members develop and distribute position papers and other educational policy analyses and statments which focus on the enhancement of member institutions programs to improve the quality of special edcuation doctoral leadership preparation as well as implementation of effective special edcuation and related research.
Organization promotes a vehicle for exchanging information and ideas related to unique concerns of special education faculty at universities, including collection and dissemination of data specific to special education doctoral education.
