Description
Highlands County Farm Bureau seeks to identify and solve member issues while promoting moral, economic, educational, and social values. As the voice of agriculture, we support agricultural education in local schools by discussing program needs and disseminating information to our members and other organizations. We also participate in the AgVenture program, which brings 4th-grade students to gain hands-on experiences and appreciation for agriculture over a 3-day event.

Program areas at Highlands County Farm Bureau

We support agriculture education in our local schools. A meeting was held to discuss the needs for each agriculture program. We disseminated the information to our members and other agricultural organizations. Agriculture contiues to be a rapidly growing and evolving industry. We continue to support our local ag teachers who help foster an appreciation of agriculture and bring awareness of the various scientific and technical careers in agriculture.
Highlands County Farm Bureau participated in the AgVenture program held in the fall. This 3 day event brings 4th grade students from the local communities to gain an understanding and appreciation for agriculture through hands-on experiences. Students rotate through 14 stations where they learn about botany, water conservation, and forestry, just to name a few topics. Students learn about how food goes from the farm to their table.
Highlands County Farm Bureau held its annual Speech Contest. Students are asked to research the topic and present their speech in front of industry professionals. These programs help students make connections between their daily life and agriculture.
