Program areas at HACER

Research: different Research projects along the year, such as informal economy, which collected useful information about informality in latina owned businesses, and how they could formalize them; climate change, which focused in the understanding of the issue from the perspective of latino communities, and how they can engage in implementing effective measures to reverse it; healing Through art, in collaboration with aurora charter school, where students learned on how are is an effective tool to cope with social and family conflicts, in the context of how covid affected our communities.
Evaluation: projects focused on supporting other organizations in evaluating their programs, such as asian media access, who we partnered with in evaluating three different programs, focused on bicultural impact in immigrant communities, youth and access to services and information to promote healthy living, survey on youth and consumption and knowledge of different substances. In southern Minnesota, we supported a federally granted program conducted by Hispanic outreach of goodhue county, focused on identifying needs and resources for latino communities in the region. Hacer became a technical advisor on evaluation for the Minnesota department of health in its eliminating health disparities initiative grantee's cohort, with our organization working with each grantee (34) in advising in the development and implementation of their evaluation plans and will continue to advise along the 4 years of this program.
Outreach: Hacer partnered with the Minnesota department of health, in continuation of bringing health related access to services statewide, with emphasis in bringing covid and flu vaccines, while offering information on different resources available for this Community. Hacer also partnered with the Minnesota department of human services in organizing events to inform communities about the tax session, and what the state offers to resident families in tax return. Hacer continued organizing events to inform about a variety of topics, including new legislative initiatives that could impact the Community's access to different services, such as drivers licenses and more.
Leadership: Hacer organized our leaders of tomorrow academy, which focuses on offering information and connections for high school students with latino heritage, who learned about different opportunities they could take advantage of in their future careers. We partnered with st. thomas university where we have some informative sessions, and invited different latino leaders in the state to motivate our participants in the workshops.
