Programs and events designed to educate the public and promote local history and culture. Activities include lectures, workshops, walking tours, and exhibits/displays. Historic Takoma maintains a public reading room to allow regular public access to reference materials and archival collections.
Takoma radio, wowd-lp, 94.3 fm, provides a source of live local information presented by local people sharing stories and music of our community. It includes archival sounds and stories from Historic Takoma and contemporary material representing the diversity of the Takoma community.
Historic Takoma maintains an extensive archival collection of documents, images, posters, recordings, and objects related to the history and culture of the Takoma Park community. Ongoing activity includes processing and cataloging materials, rehousing fragile items, digitizing fragile and high value items, and creating an online collection catalog for community access to the collections.
