Program areas at Hively
Child care subsidies - these programs provide child care subsidies for parents who qualify for services under terms of agency agreements with the California department of social services (""cdss"") and alameda county social services agency California work opportunity responsibility to kids program (""calworks""). The agency determines program eligibility, provides support services, and processes payments to child care providers.the calworks program provides child care subsidies to parents who are in approved calworks activities and whose eligibility may be determined by the related public agency. The cdss programs provide child care subsidies to low-income parents who are employed, looking for work, pursuing educational goals, and are medically incapacitated. During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, nearly 2,700 children were served through the alternative payment, emergency child care bridge and calworks stage i, ii, and and iii programs.
Mental health services - Hively provides mental health services at our offices in san leandro, pleasanton and oakland. We work with clients of any age who have alameda county medi-cal. We also have a fee for service options for those who do not have medi-cal. Services are provided by licensed therapists (lmft), associate therapists (amft) and trainee therapists. (mftt).our clients include court and child and family services (cfs) mandated clients and self referred clients. All services are by appointment. Hively also provides general assistance (ga) evaluations at two alameda county locations - eastmont and san pablo.during the fiscal year 2022-23, the program, through 15 licensed and/or associate therapists and 8 clinical trainees, provided 2,527 individual therapy sessions, 93 family or group therapy sessions and 486 general assistance evaluations.
Resource and referral - these programs provide child care referrals, parent education that includes information and assistance on choosing child care, parent rights, etc., and access to community resources for parents/guardians. Navigation services for families in alameda county are provided to strengthen and support the whole family and whole child. Technical assistance, one on one coaching and free professional development training opportunities are available for child care providers on topics such as, social-emotional development, health and safety, curriculum and environment planning and inclusion. Parents and community members are also welcome to attend our professional development training opportunities. Support for these programs are provided through contracts with cdss, alameda county first five commission, alameda county office of education (acoe) private sources, and the cities of pleasanton and dublin. The city contracts and first 5 alameda county funds the development and documentation of child care data and training for local child care providers and parents/guardians.
General and other programs - the agency offers various other programs that promote development of healthy, happy children and strong, well-resourced families. The agency provides training and workshops, technical assistance and support to child care providers including assistance for paying licensing related fees, support to address barriers faced by children with special needs and assisting child care sites improve their quality in the areas of health and safety, learning opportunities for children, program structure, and relationships with children, families and staff. In addition, the agency actively seeks support and grants to support the operation of a family resource center (frc), community resource navigation services to create access to tangible and intangible resources. The frc has gently used children's clothing, hygiene products, nonperishable foods, etc. Readily available to families in need, as well as a diaper pantry that distributes approximately 5,000 diapers a week to underserved families in alameda county. In addition to these resources, we provide wraparound services to Hively programs and services and to our community partners, ensuring that the parent has their needs taken care of in one stop, hence our frc being known as a one stop shop for all basic necessities. In addition to the services, the agency facilitated a series of one-time payments to childcare providers funded by the american rescue plan act.
