Program areas at HHCDA
Housing management program: the organization provided 8 down payment assistance to 8 eligible households. The organization also provided rental assistance to 2 households, along with 15 families in the metro area and college rental assistance to 20 students. Hhcda also provided 2 veterans with rental subsidies. The tribal repair program provided assistance to 28 tribal homeowners.maintenance included window installation, siding, and soffit on 2 units. Replaced 2 roofs, installed 9 new furnaces, installed 7 hvac, 3 flooring replacements, and total rehabilitation was performed on 12 units. Drywall was replaced in 1 unit. Duct cleaning was performed in 16 units, kitchen cabinets were replaced in 4 units, and various appliances were replaced in 12 units.development had 2 projects continuing from 2021 with one of them being completed along with 2 new construction projects. The completed project started in 2021 is a single family sustainable home and the uncompleted project from 2021 is a duplex. The new projects are a 10 unit supportive Housing facility for families and will be completed in july 2024, and 22 small homes located in various areas that will be completed in the spring of 2024. Development also started 2 rehab projects and completed 1 project from 2021. The completed project from 2021 was for the exterior and entry way rehab of a Community building. The new projects were to rehab the kitchen in one of our Community buildings and to remediate basement water issues in 5 units. The kitchen rehab project will be completed in the fall of 2023. The basements were finished but remaining funding will be used to remediate 2 additional basements in 2023.the organization purchased 2 duplexes and started rehab on both units in 2022. The rehabs were in progress at the end of 2022. The organization is also operating a 10-unit veteran supportive Housing apartment building, which provides supportive Housing to native american veterans that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Supportive services are coordinated with the local, state and federal, social services and veteran affairs offices.
Other services:in addition to the organization's primary services of rental management and home ownership, the organization coordinated Community programs that included Community clean up events in 7 communities, management of 3 Community centers and the continued growth of Community organic gardens in the affordable Housing sub-divisions and administered and assisted with the construction of a Community building. The Community gardens include organizing Community members in the low-income communities to teach them not only gardening but nutrition and food sovereignty. Hhcda purchased a resource center that is used to store personal care items as well as holding classes for canning, seed saving, and making maple syrup. A green house was also constructed in order to start seeds that were saved for the Community gardens.
Emergency assistance program:emergency assistance programs were created to assist families who were affected by the pandemic. Hhcda provided rental assistance to 767 families, mortgage assistance to 393 families, mortgage reinstatement assistance to 3 families, homeowner assistance to 83 families, utility assistance to 1308 families, and homeless assistance to 2 families.a delivery van was purchased in order to transport and deliver personal care items that are stored in the Community resource center. These items are available to low income families in the various areas we service.
